Our new MOOC, **Supporting English Language Learners under New Standards**, is a collaboration between Understanding Language, Oregon State University, and the Oregon Department of Education. This eight-week course will focus on a key practice within both the Common Core State Standards and new English Language Proficiency Standards: argumentation. Participants will analyze language samples gathered from students to explore how they are constructing claims supported by evidence and reasoning. Educators will be able to use their understanding of their students’ language capacities to design curriculum aligned to the new standards. This course is open to teachers and administrators in all states, and is especially relevant to educators in Oregon and other states in the ELPA21 consortium.
